New Year's Resolution + Sketch Journal?
Dec. 18th, 2009 04:45 amI'm actually going to make a New Years Resolution this year! ^___^
I'd like to try to draw something every day - even if I'm not feeling particularly inspired, and even if it's just drawn on the back of an envelope or something XD To help keep myself motivated, I think it would be a good idea to set up an art blog, or sketch journal, or whatever you want to call it, so that I can post my things, and feel happy :)
I don't want to do it through livejournal, I don't think - I don't want to spam my lj friends every day with silly doodles, lol (I actually get embarrassed when I post a lot - does anybody else get that? What is that? XD I'm actually kind of embarrassed right now, but my ten-days-of-bedrest-and-counting-boredom outweighs it, so.) And if I set up a new account, I don't remember if non-paid members have access to the Scrapbook - and I know photobucket will delete a lot of things I might want to post.
Do any of you have an art blog? If so - what site do you use? Is it adult-content-friendly? Is it pretty easy to get the hang of posting?
Even if you don't have one yourself, and have just heard of a good one, let me know, and I can look it up :)
Also - what is up with livejournal today? I made two posts, and in each one, lj totally ate my line breaks, and i had to type them in in the html editor. And THEN, because I didn't take the warning ^^;;; I decided to edit my fanfic index entry. Yeah. That thing's all screwed up now >_< Is anybody else having problems with that? edit: Baaah ha ha, it happened to this one too! :o

Date: 2009-12-18 06:22 pm (UTC)Other than that I do like blogger. You can make it an 18+ blog too. I like it because you can upload the picture files as you post. No need to have to upload pictures elsewhere and then code them in.

Date: 2009-12-19 06:44 am (UTC)I am considering just making a second journal - I need to see what kind of image storage non-paid users are allowed (if any) and maybe decide whether I want to actually pay for another account. Hmmmmm. I'm also considering blogspot, or blogger like you say - I'll have to take a look and see what it's like over there.
See, I don't want to lock the posts, except maybe the hardcore stuff, if there is any XD
But I'm going to have a look around and see what suits me the best. <3<3<3 Thank you for your interest! I'll let you know what I decide on, if you want to keep an eye on me ^___^

Date: 2009-12-19 04:10 am (UTC)I had the same problem before I caved and re-used my super old journal for a sketch blog. And I'm glad I'm not alone with feeling weird about posting a lot (especially x-posting, it's like, damn~ someone out there is going to see this same post 3 times on their f-list ;^;)
Btw, does photobucket really delete certain images??! I'm going to be so paranoid if that's the case O___o!!
If you find a good art blog site, gimme a shout~

Date: 2009-12-19 06:49 am (UTC)I ABSOLUTELY wouldn't mind if you posted everyday :D
Yep! Adult images are against the TOS on photobucket - ha ha, I draw a LOT of porn ^^;, and when I started posting, before I got my paid account with the Scrapbook feature, I had two different photobucket accounts shut down for violating the TOS XD Oops! I mean, they don't always delete the images - but i think is someone reports it, they do. And after a few deletions, it's a ban.
And I will! So far, I've had blogger, blogspot and wordpress recommended, and I'm going to check them out ^^ I'll let you know if any of them impress the hell out of me ^^

Date: 2009-12-20 01:51 am (UTC)LIKEWISE DARLING!
You draw the kind of things I wish I had the metaphorical balls to draw~
I would die. I. WOULD. JUST. DIE. if my account was taken down because I have 200+ Bleach drawings and 100+ hetalia ones scattered between two journals and I WOULD DIE. Oh well, there isn't much I can do about it know haha~
Thanks! <3<3<3

Date: 2009-12-20 10:51 pm (UTC)Ohhhh, o__o You may want to consider removing anything that's like, NC-17. Anything with graphic sex, I'd get that out of there. But then again, i don't know if I've noticed any graphic sex in your art - it's usually tastefully hot, with the naughty bits hidden - so maybe you're okay :D
AND, I've decided that I'm just going to start another LJ account - I'm already familiar with posting procedures here, and the Scrapbook is available to Plus members now, so yay! But, if you were looking for a blog-type-thing, Blogger seemed to be a good one. You can upload art directly into the posting window, and it seemed pretty intuitive at first, but it also looked like it had lots of options ^^
embarrassement is for blushing uke(s) and republicans
Date: 2009-12-19 05:21 am (UTC)but why not put your stuff under a cut? who could possibly be bothered by that?
besides. i've always considered your journal to be art-centered. be it creative writing (you certainly don't just vent fangirly steam in your stories) or drawing.
i'd appreaciate to see more of what i've already, greatly enjoyed in the past.
but didn't you know I *am* a blushing uke? *blushes and bends over**
Date: 2009-12-19 06:56 am (UTC)And I'm just worried about flooding people ^^ I really don't know why I have this hangup - I feel strange about posting art on LJ unless I have several pieces that I really like, and I post them in one entry. On y!gallery, I don't have a problem with posting every day - I think it might partially be an issue of neatness. I don't want my journal to get all cluttered up with a bunch of art that, I'm sure on some days, will be ehhhh, low-effort affairs.
And thank you! :D I might end up just opening another lj account, because I'm already so familiar with the setup and everything. If I do, I'll let ya know :D
